French Colored Range Chicken

What is so special about this breed and the way we raise our chickens? Quality, both in flavor for your table and quality of life for the chickens.

This heritage breed is imported from France where it was selected for the Label Rouge program. It is distinguished from the American industrial breed by its thin skin, elongated breasts, and longer legs. And, because of their slower growth rate, our chickens are reared twice as long as commercial breeds. Read the Animal Welfare Approved article, "Why Good Breeding Matters," for an explanation of why growth rate is a key welfare issue for poultry and this organization's decision to prohibit use of the Cornish Cross breed for their certification.

Hand-raised in small flocks by the Krepky family, our birds enjoy fresh air, natural light, plenty of room to exercise, and are free of antibiotics and hormones.

Unlike commercially raised birds, which are transported long distances for slaughter and suffer from stress and dehydration, our birds are humanely processed by Cindy on the farm in a WSDA-certified facility just steps away from the poultry yard.

These conditions result in a firmer meat that contains less water and fat, and more protein, vitamins, and minerals with a distinctively succulent flavor.

We raise these birds year-round and they are available fresh or frozen.

Other Poultry

Seasonally, we raise ducks, geese, Guinea fowl, and turkeys for meat. We also raise chickens, ducks, and geese year round for eggs. However, the goose eggs are seasonal and only available January to June.
